The sad song of Hong Kong!

In Hong Kong, public opinion is observed by the size and frequency of demonstrations and shocks. It is also observed by the number of people who committed suicides. It is observed from international media coverage, too. What a sad song of Hong Kong!

It is easy to find out the true public opinion via current technology. Why do Hongkongers still have to work so hard just to express a public opinion? It is because both the politicians and the Government do not want to find out the true public opinion. They worry that the true public opinion will be too far from their own policies. The Government worries it will hinder its own administration and the politicians worry it will take away their seats!

True public opinion should be observed by all-people-voting, not by any sample survey. True public opinion exists in the Government’s Registers of Electors. Should the Government truly believe in democracy, make good use of its Registers, hold all-people-voting in face of conflicts; all difficulties will surely be solved. However, the sad song of Hong Kong is, only ordinary Hongkongers do truly believe in democracy. The Government and politicians both have their own reservations and cannot believe in democracy completely! Why?!

In this crisis, not only Mrs. Lam, our current CEO, is responsible, but also all our Hong Kong politicians are responsible. Hongkongers, in addition to continuing demonstrations, marches, shocks, and deaths, should make good use of every vote in their hands, in order to force all opposition politicians to lay down their personal interests, to unite and not to fight with each other, to focus on the overall situation and aim at one common goal.

Dream: The Government sets up all-people-voting to allow the public to easily see “true public opinion" whenever necessary.

Ideal: Opposition politicians lay down their personal interests and unite; each constituency, regardless of party, has only one candidate; each constituency, regardless of party, has only one list, and the list can be cross-party.

Although Dream is hard to come true, there still seems to be some little hope in the Ideal. I hope that the opposition politicians can think hard and consider my suggestion. Otherwise, as a normal response, in addition to continuing demonstrations, marches, shocks and deaths, we helpless and desperate Hongkongers can only use the “blank vote" to express our true public opinion.

It’s time to unite, Hongkongers!
